About Pasifikas in Medicine
Our Story
Pasifikas in Medicine was started by two Polynesian medical students at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson in 2019. They initiated a network of Pasifika medical students across the U.S. and created a platform for these students to share their experiences with the hope of helping Pasifika pre-med students in their journey.
Since then, our Pasifika medical student network has grown and now includes residents and physicians across the U.S. While our organization may be small, our hearts and ambitions for our communities are huge. We hope that you can join us in our endeavors to heal and uplift our communities.
Our Mission
Pasifikas in Medicine is a group of people across the United States who are medical students, residents, and physicians. Our aim is to increase Pasifika representation in medicine. We hope to improve representation through community building among current medical students in addition to inspiring and mentoring pre-medical students of Pasifika background in their pursuit of medicine. Central to our mission is establishing a pipeline to medicine through social networking, peer mentorship, community outreach, and professional development. We are hopeful that by increasing Pasifika representation in medicine, we will move closer to resolving the various health inequities that exist in our communities.
